Walking beyond exercise

To me, Nordic Walking is so much more than the pleasure of exercising outdoors, and the efficiency I feel whizzing along with the poles working my upper and lower body in harmony.

It makes me feel like I’m on an adventure, imagining that the passing pine trees are somewhere I’ve never explored before. I love the smell of the fresh air, the mud, the leaves and the plant life. Its about the changes in the light from warm to cold coloured hues and for my eyes to rest far into the distance.

I enjoy the company and the friends I make along the way and always want to share the feeling being on this adventure gives me. Nordic Walking or indeed any walk allows you the time to get to know each other and listen.

When you go out walking, somehow the barriers shift and the freedom you feel from being outside allows you to talk about what is on your mind, where you’ve previously been too busy at home or at work, running errands.

I always feel motivated and inspired when walking. It makes me feel energised and gives me such pleasure to share this time with other people and in turn hear what has been on their mind, what their ambitions are. Walking is enriching, these are the times when you can let your ideas develop and your thoughts flow.
