Nordic Walking is the perfect workout for both pre and post natal women. Nordic Walking burns twice as many calories as ordinary walking, and is suitable during and after pregnancy – but you can find out more about it here. The Nordic Walking poles help spread the effort throughout your upper and lower body so is gentle on joints, great for strength and maintaining your cardiovascular fitness. If you are comfortable you can take your baby Nordic Walking with you in a carrier, you’ll both have the benefit of being out in the fresh air and no need to worry about childcare.
Nordic Walking is sociable and fun – perfect for Active Mamas!

How do I get started?
If you are new to Nordic Walking, you should attend a Beginners Workshop or book a 1-2-1 session.
You can make a group with other mums-to-be/new mums for a private session
Like with any new exercise regime, please get the go ahead from your doctor or midwife before starting Nordic Walking.
Where can I learn?
The sessions are run from Perranporth and Hayle, however 1-2-1s and private groups sessions can be arranged at a place that is convenient for you. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and any questions you may have.
What do I need?
A pair of trainers (with good grip) and layered active clothing are all you need. We have poles that you can use and if you enjoy Nordic Walking, we can help you buy some of your own.
I’d like to try Nordic Walking with my baby, what do I need to know?
If you would like to Nordic Walk with your baby, you need to be confident and comfortable carrying them in a baby carrier or a sling. We will only walk on suitable terrain (rather than uneven sections of the coast path!). Pre and post natal Nordic Walking Mamas is taught by Nathalie, a pre and post natal and Nordic Walking UK qualified fitness instructor.
When can I start?
Please always check with your GP/ Midwife before commencing any new exercise programme. It is recommended that after a natural birth you wait until after your 6 week post natal check by your GP/Midwife. If you had a caesarean it is recommended that you wait until 8/10 weeks after birth.
