Nordic Walking at Holywell Bay in Cornwall

Nordic Walking poles – check, snacks – check, camera – check. This month I am working with my partner Nick on a series of Adventure Fitness Walks that will make your morning workout feel like an experience!

We have taken time, so that you don’t have to, researching interesting and varied routes that give opportunities for a bit of training on the way, but also makes the most of using Nordic Walking poles to increase the level of effort without even realising it! You can read more about the benefits of Nordic Walking here.

Our first walk on October 28, starts at Holywell Bay where we’ll do a warm up on the sand before tackling the dunes parallel to the beach where we’ll pick up the coast path. We’ll work all of our muscles here as we practise using the poles on a gentle incline, before the cove of Polly Joke comes into sight and sweeping views of the common ahead.

As we leave the beach, the long path towards Cubert Common allows time to check in with our technique before the undulating landscape of the common. Here we’ll practise our hill technique again before heading cross country on our loop back towards Holywell. Fields with perfectly rounded bales and a farm nestled into the dip makes for some very picturesque exercise towards the end.

Each session is 2 hours and between 4-7 miles – our first walk at Holywell Bay is 4.8 miles.

Each adventure walk is designed for those who have some experience of Nordic Walking, so if you’ve never tried Nordic Walking before, then you’ll need to take part in a Beginners Course or a Beginners Workshop. If you book onto The Beginners Workshop, then you’ll have your first Adventure Walk for free!
